When faced with unexpected equipment failures, Xtek is always willing to help. Here are two recent examples of situations in which we helped our customers out of a jam.
The Mother’s Day Miracle
Xtek received a call late in the day on Saturday May 13th, from one of our customers stating that their steelmaking operation was down due to the failure of a crane wheel assembly in service. They needed their spare wheel assembly, which we had at Xtek for repair. We had the wheel assembly only partially completed, but the customer needed it shipped back as soon as possible. We responded and by 3PM the next day (Mother’s Day), We completed the repair of the wheel assembly, arranged trucking, and had it loaded and headed back to our customer, preventing additional downtime.
The Great Gearbox Race
Also, last week, as part of a major outage for another midwestern steel mill, we were requested to pick up two substantial gearboxes. The work involved disassembly, cleaning and inspecting all components, replacing the gearing with spare gearing, reassembly, and performing a run test. All of this needed to be completed within one week of receipt for reinstallation into the mill during their outage. The work scope was completed on time, on budget, and further downtime was avoided.
Xtek regularly accomplishes quick turnaround and rush projects for our customers when they are in trouble. If you aren’t getting the level of service that you deserve, please contact us.
