A Southeastern Aluminum Mill recently asked Xtek to perform in-place machining on two of their gearboxes and to remove and install the drive trains during a 10-day outage. Xtek designed new bearing sleeves to account for the new bore sizes. The input and intermediate assemblies were reconditioned and assembled with the new bearing sleeves at Xtek in Cincinnati ahead of the outage. The output assemblies were reconditioned and bearing sleeves assembled at the mill by Xtek Precision Maintenance crews ahead of the outage. The job was overseen by a senior Xtek Service Engineer and completed on time.
