Xtek is excited to announce that we will be installing a new eight-meter cylindrical grinder from the Robbi Group. The Omicron 8000 will be replacing our current manual Cincinnati grinder, providing an upgrade to our manufacturing capabilities.
Large Scale, High Precision Capabilities
The Robbi Group’s Omicron 8000 cylindrical grinder is a high-precision machine designed for large-scale grinding applications. It offers advanced features to ensure accuracy, efficiency, and versatility in handling substantial workpieces. Xtekwill primarily use this machine to grind larger parts such as pinch rolls and mill pinions.
Omicron 8000 Key Features
- Semi-Automatic PLC Controls: The Omicron 8000 is equipped with a Siemens Programmable Logic Controller (PLC) system, facilitating semi-automatic operations. This setup enhances user interaction, allowing for intuitive control and efficient management of grinding processes.
- Multi-Diameter Grinding Capability: Operators can program the machine to grind multiple diameters within a single setup. This feature streamlines operations, reduces setup times, and ensures consistent precision across various dimensions.
- Automatic Grinding Cycles: The machine offers automatic grinding cycles, including both plunge and pass modes. Operators can set specific parameters for each cycle, ensuring optimal material removal rates and surface finishes tailored to specific workpiece requirements.
- Robust Weight Capacity: Designed to handle substantial workloads, the Omicron 8000 has a weight capacity of up to 44,000 lbs. This capability makes it suitable for heavy-duty applications, accommodating large and heavy workpieces without compromising accuracy or performance.
- Generous Grinding Dimensions: This machine boasts impressive working dimensions of 8,000 mm maximum grinding length and a center height of up to 500 mm.
In addition to these features, the Omicron 8000 can be equipped with automatic measurement devices, enabling the processing of complex components with high precision.
Our investment in the Omicron 8000 cylindrical grinder reflects our commitment to constantly improve our resources and capabilities to better meet the needs of our customers. The installation of Xtek’s Omicron system is scheduled to take place in early 2026.
